DIY Lunchables and Elephant bento (2)

I have not made lunchables in a long time. Nikolai told me that he saw his classmate's lunchables the other day and wanted me to add a cookie or candy just like what he saw.
Frankly, I am not sure as I have not tried or really looked into lunchables in my whole life! I will have to go to the store later today and check them out. My lunchables inspirations are mostly from my bento friends.
I also made a simple elephant bento last week with our easy to use Lunchpunch.

Here is a DIY lunchables packed in our Ecolunchbox solo cube.

Mini Veggie Corn Dogs bento

I think this is the quickest bento I have ever put together so far thanks to my freezer stash. We love MorningStar Farms frozen foods and it only took me a couple of minutes to heat these up in the microwave. While it was heating, I started assembling other foods into his bento box. I waited a few more extra minutes for them to cool down before transferring them into his Easylunchboxes container.

In this bento lunch:
  • MorningStar Farms Mini Veggie Corn Dogs, organic baby carrots and organic Ketchup in mini dipper.
  • Goldfish crackers.
  • Seedless green grapes and blueberries.

Review: Trudeau Fuel Bento Lunch Box

My first ever review on this site featured a Trudeau Fuel Everest sandwich box. Last year they contacted me to inform me that a new product was to be available sometime this year, and I was very excited to receive it in July and put it to use.
Trudeau Corp is a leading supplier of quality kitchenware and tabletop accessories in North America.

Their new Bento Lunch Box has two inner compartments each with its own lid. The one on the right side is internally divided into three sections to keep foods separate.

Things that we like:
- Without the lids, the inside containers are microwave safe, which is nice for me as sometimes a hot lunch is just the thing for a rainy day.
- It is BPA free and dishwasher safe, though they recommend hand washing to extend its life.

Something to consider:
- With more than 1300 ml total capacity, it is a large size container, and if you are going to carry it in a cooler bag, you may need a larger than standard ones.

Here is a bento lunch I made for Nikolai.

In this bento:
  • On left: Pumpernickel sandwich with bunny cut-out and mild cheddar face along with Mozzarella cheese stick
  • On the top right: Papaya pieces and seedless green grapes.
  • Broccoli florets and grape tomatoes.
  • Rocket ship cheddar chese crackers from Trader Joe's
Here are the sections with their lids.

And here they are assembled into the Bento Lunch Box.

Here are the supplies or similar that I used to make this lunch.

Disclosure: Trudeau Corp generously provided me with the items for review without cost to me. Other than receiving the items, I have not received any compensation to write this review.

Review: Laptop Lunches Bento Buddies and Back To School Apple bento

Laptop Lunches generously sent me their new Bento Buddies to review. Earlier I wrote a review of their Laptop Lunches 2.0 bento box that can be read HERE and many of our lunches packed in it can be viewed HERE.

From their assorted colors available, I selected the gorgeous lime green bento buddies. They can be arranged in many different ways, using one container or all depending on what you decided to pack. You could also mix and match the bento buddies containers with other sets but they are only compatible with the Laptop Lunches bento lunch box 2.0.

For a day at school, I would usually pack a complete lunch in the Laptop Lunches 2.0. Their bento buddies can be used as a single container and I sometimes used them for some healthy snacks while running errands or packing myself a small lunch. I really appreciate that kind of versatility

The bento buddies are very sturdy, leak proof, microwave safe (the containers, not the lids) and dishwasher safe (top rack without heat-boosters). They contain no phthalates, lead, PVC and are BPA free.

Here is a back to school apple bento.

 In  this bento lunch:
  • In the extra large container: Apple shaped sandwiches (stacked) with icing eyes and carrot mouth. String cheese halves and apple slices. Small container of caramel for dip.
  • Top right: Strawberries with a chalkboard pick.
  • Bottom right: Edamame topped with carrot lettering and an apple pick.
  • Far right: Wheat thins.
Here is a photo of the containers with their lids.

Bento buddies fits nicely in our Laptop Lunches 2.0

Back To School Bus And Pencil Bento

Today is the first day of school here and Nikolai will be starting Grade 3. We had a blast of a summer this year and did a lot of traveling compared to previous years. We even went for a last minute out of town trip to Orlando on Saturday after meeting his teacher and attending the school open house.

Back to school is always a bitter sweet time for me. Sweet is because I know that Nikolai missed his friends and will be very happy to see them. Bitter part is just me, I miss spending time with him so much and it was difficult for me to drop him off at school this morning. Anyway, time will usually get me back on track and here is his first day of school bento.

Back To School Bus and Pencil Bento Lunch
In this bento lunch:
  • Main compartment - Bus shaped sandwich which I free hand cut with Smoked Gouda and Colby Longhorn cheese. Large olive slices for wheels. Some cute food picks as little people.
  • Lower left - Baby carrots and ranch in little dipper.
  • Upper left - Seedless green grapes and strawberry halves.
  • Center - Blueberries
  • Upper right - Pencil shaped cheddar string cheese with mozzarella tip, raisin for pencil lead and ham for eraser, pencil tip and eraser are secured with a thin spaghetti. Wheat thins below the pencil. Packed in our PlanetBox Rover and I included a LunchBox Love note with his lunch.

Review: LunchBots Quad

I was given the opportunity to review a LunchBots and from their collection I picked the LunchBots Quad which is a four compartments container.
We also have a LunchBots Duo and have been using it since our son was in Kindergarten. I am pleased to report that it is still in excellent condition. It still looks new, has been very durable and was easy to open when he was little.

The LunchBots Quad container is divided into four compartments so that you can keep food separate and not touching. The lid is easy to remove even for small hands, and although the LunchBots Quad isn’t completely leak-proof between the compartments, it is spill-proof and the lid stays on surprisingly well. It is easy to clean, will not retain stains, odors or residues since it is stainless steel and will last for a long time with proper care. It is also lead free, plastic free, BPA free, phthalate free, non toxic and waste free.

The divided compartments make it easier to offer several different foods which is great for healthy lunches and great for picky eaters such as homemade lunchables. Visit LunchBots site HERE for more variety of food containers.

Here is a quick and easy bento lunch packed in our LunchBots Quad.

In this bento lunch:
  • Rainier cherries with a cute pick.
  • Wheat thins with cream cheese and half of a granola bar.
  • Sugar snap peas and crinkle cut carrot with ranch for dip in small container.
  • Sandwich quarters with a baran sheet.
Here is the container with it's lid and I love the color of the lid :)

Here are the supplies that I used to make and pack this lunch.

Review: ECOlunchbox Solo Cube and Solo Rectangle

ECOlunchbox generously sent me their Solo Cube and Solo Rectangle to review. I selected these from their beautiful collection thinking that their size most closely fit the size and style of lunches that our son prefers. When they arrived Nikolai's first comment was, "These are so shiny they are like mirrors; I can see my reflection perfectly!" which is true; the quality of their finish is great. I told him that he is supposed to be eating his lunch at school instead of looking at his reflection.:)

The Solo Cube measures 5 1/4 inches square and 1 7/8 inches deep and the Solo Rectangle measures 4 3/4 inches wide, 6 3/4 inches long and 2 inches deep.
They also have several different styles of containers, lunch bags and accessories that can be found here.

Things that we like:
- Easy to open and close for small hands.
- Stainless steel will not retain stains, odors or residues and will last for a long time with proper care.
- Dishwasher safe.
- Lead free, plastic free, BPA free, phthalate free, non toxic and waste free.

Things to consider:
- The containers are not leak proof.
- Not for use in microwave.

Here is a lunch packed in the ECOlunchbox Solo Rectangle.

In this bento lunch:
  • All natural, No food coloring Torino Farfalline pasta with basil pesto and flower shaped carrot pieces.
  • Cantaloupe pieces and watermelon shaped flowers.
  • Sugar snap peas.
Here is a lunch packed in the ECOlunchbox Solo Cube.

In this bento lunch:
  • Bus shaped sandwiches, stacked. I used our bus shaped cutter and stamp set and they are so easy to use.
  • Crinkle cut carrot pieces and sugar snap peas.
  • Rocked shaped cheddar crackers.
  • Rainier cherries.
Here are the containers with their lids.

And here are the containers when we first received them.

Here are the supplies that I used to make and pack these lunches.
