Gobble Gobble! Turkey Bento

This will be my last turkey themed bento for this year and I made it simple. I used the fondant cutters which I purchased from Williams-Sonoma awhile back for the turkey and leaves. We will be joining Nikolai, his teacher and his classmates for Thanksgiving Luncheon tomorrow. Have a Happy Friday and a wonderful weekend everyone!
This lunch is packed in a LunchBots Quad.

Pilgrims and Give Thanks Bento

We have been arranging for Nikolai's Birthday party this coming weekend and then there is the Thanksgiving party the next week. Life gets kind of hectic for us this time of the year. Giving thanks and being grateful is something our family talks about and we live by on a daily basis.

Thanksgiving Turkey Bento

I saw this cute and fun turkey sandwich from one of my favorite and creative bloggers, Jill over at MeetTheDubiens. I loved that she used apples for the feathers and that inspired me to make a slight modified version of the turkey for Nikolai's lunch today.

Thanksgiving turkey, bento school lunches
In this bento lunch:
  • The turkey was made using a circle cutter for the main body, part of the bread crust for the neck and head, and slices of red, green, and yellow apples for the feathers. I used a tiny circle cutter to make a hole through which I put a part of a bugle for the beak (you can also use a straw to make the small hole). The wattle was freehand cut from fruit leather and I added parts of pretzel sticks for legs and candy eyes.
  • Carrot and cucumber slices were cut to turkey shape with a small cutter.
  • On the top right are some bugles.
  • I included a Lunchbox love note from their Thanksgiving edition and packed this lunch in a Laptop Lunches

Here are the supplies or similar that I used to make and pack this lunch.

Turkey Bento

I decided to make a turkey bento earlier this year since I usually tried to come up with one at the last minute in past years. Nikolai was born on Thanksgiving Day almost 9 years ago so his birthday always falls around the Thanksgiving holiday. Naturally we are always so busy with parties preparation at that time, the making of a festive turkey bento is left at the back burner.

I was unable to find my turkey shaped cookie cutter but remembered an idea I saw on pinterest using a hand shaped cookie cutter for a turkey! Here is what I came up with.

 In this bento lunch:
  • Turkey shaped sandwich (cut using a hand shaped cookie cutter), sweet peppers for feather (free hand cut), icing eyes, sweet red pepper wattle, yellow sweet pepper beak and cheddar feet.
  • Bugles.
  • Cucumber slices with a turkey cupcake pick.
  • Seedless red grapes and strawberries. This lunch is packed in an Easylunchboxes container. Linked to Bento Blog Network.

Tmart Review & Electric Heating Lunch Box Giveaway

Last month the nice people over at Tmart contacted me and offered me the opportunity to review one of their products. Selecting which one was a difficult choice since they have hundreds of cool items at their site. I eventually decided on their electric heating lunch box since I don't have one of these.

I decided to pack a work lunch for myself and gave this lunch box a try. I wanted to experience for myself just how warm this would keep the food.

I packed leftover barbeque chicken, rice with salmon furikake, blanched broccoli from my  refrigerator directly into the electric heating lunch box. As soon as I arrived at work, I plugged it in and had lunch five hours later to find my food hot! I have to say that I am quite impressed. This lunch box will be great anytime especially during winter months when hot chilli, soup, pasta and more is just what you want.

This portable electric lunch box is lightweight, durable and made of non toxic material. It stores and recycles heat within the container keeping the foods wonderfully hot and it is equipped with a steam release cover.
It has a divider and a removable compartment with it's own separate cover.
The lid is secured with four sided locks which keeps heat within the box. The lid itself has a section with its own hinged cover which carries a spoon and there is also an easy carry handle.

T.mart store sells electronics, computer accessories, games, toys, holiday supplies, gifts and more. Visit their store HERE and check them out. Their prices are quite reasonable and they also offer worldwide free shipping!!

T.mart is generously offering the same electric heating lunch box to one of my readers.

Bento made By Dad: Club Penguin Bento

My wonderful husband made this cute bento for Nikolai by request while I was super busy with work. Nikolai left a sketch of what he thought he would like his dad to make. The character on the left his dad recognized as Nikolai's cartoon of a penguin (from Disney's Club Penguin game) and the one on the right as Herbert P. Bear (also from Club Penguin). His dad used the sketch as a blueprint.

In this bento lunch:
  • Penguin and Herbert Bear sandwiches with candy eyes and nori accents (free hand cut). Penguin is cut using a penguin cutter and Herbert is free hand cut.
  • Carrots in penguin cup ( where he had suggested chocolate chips...=8-)
  • Raspberries with penguin pick.
  • Goldfish crackers. This lunch is packed in our Laptop Lunches.
Here are the supplies or similar that he used to make and pack this lunch.

Bear with Puzzle Bento And A Bear Bento (2)

Nikolai enjoyed these two bentos on different days. He was under the weather and didn't have much of an appetite but requested for bears. He also told me that the puzzle in the first bento looked like a castle and the bear is in a castle. He has great imagination.(^_^)

A Little Bit Of Everything Bento

It is already November! Time flies and my next goal is to complete my Christmas shopping before the end of November. This is a big challenge for me! I am quite a  practical person and that has always made our shopping time consuming, I pity my patient husband who accompanies me on these shopping missions.

I try to make sure that when I get something for someone, my gifts are something the person would wish for or things that will be useful (frankly, my personal preference is giving cash or gift cards, but my hubby's side of family are of the gift giving tradition). Don't ask me how I managed to get their wish list, lol.:)

Here is a very simple and quick bento which I packed today in his LunchBots Quad.

In this bento lunch:
  • Bottom left: A quartered sandwich with cute baran sheet.
  • Bottom right: Colby Jack cheese cubes with a Panda pick.
  • Top left: Quaker rice snacks and raisins.
  • Top right: Cucumber slices.
  • GoGo Squeeze applesauce and this lunch is packed in a LunchBots Quad.
Here are the supplies or similar that I used to make and pack this lunch.
