Pizza and Quesadilla bento - Planetbox Rover #716

It's almost Mother's Day and my son and hubby are planning a short get away for us. I thought of going to Disney and I know everyone else will enjoy that also. We are very fortunate to live only a few hours from Disney and going there is always great fun, the only thing we have to watch is that the weather during that weekend is pleasant as well.

These two lunches required some cooking in the mornings but it was not too difficult. The first lunch was Trader Joe's mini pizzas which I baked in the morning. While the pizzas were baking in the oven, I assembled the entire lunch and the finishing touch was the cheese. As soon as it was done, I pulled it out from the oven and added some star shaped smoked Gouda cheese cut-out on the top. I let the pizzas cool for a few minutes before I transferred them to his Planetbox Rover.

  • Lower left - Annie's homegrown organic bunny crackers and bunny pretzels.
  • Center - Trader Joe's yogurt star

This second lunch was quesadiila which I pan fried in the morning. I included my homemade chocolate chip granola bar which is Nikolai's favorite. I'm not a great fan of granola bars but these homemade ones are pretty good. This lunch was also packed in a Planetbox Rover.

Disney Mickey, Minnie and Friends Bento

Time flies and when I looked back at my previous Mickey Mouse lunches, I discovered that they were created two years ago! It feels like just a few months ago. Laptop Lunches sent me their new lunchbox several months ago and it was a while before I put it to use, this box in translucent compared to our primary colored box.

This first lunch was created with my Mickey and Minnie cutter and stamp set, and their friends Donald and Daisy are food picks. I used the same Mickey cutter to cut the watermelon slices. I saved the cute Mickey container from Nikolai's Easter egg hunt many years ago and frankly, I can't remember what I included in it since I made this lunch a while back.

In this bento lunch:
  • Bottom left: Mickey and Minnie stamped sandwiches (stacked).
  • Top left: Mickey watermelon slices above kiwi slices.
  • Bottom right: Food in the cute Mickey container and ranch for dip in the small container.
  • Top right: Organic broccoli florets and organic baby carrots.
  • Far right: Cloth napkin.
This second Mickey and Minnie themed lunch was packed in his Monbento Tresor box. I used the stamp from the cutter set and stamped Mickey's face on cheddar cheese.

Duck Bento (2)

It has been raining on and off for the past couple of days. I don't know about you, but I always have difficulties pulling myself up in the mornings whenever it's raining and I dread starting the day. Of course, staying in and catching some more sleep is impossible unless it's the weekend.

Many times I am very thankful for my cute collection of picks as they play an important role in inspiring me on those days when nothing comes immediately to mind. I made a couple of duck themed lunches, thanks to this kind of pick inspiration, which Nikolai enjoyed on different days.

The first lunch was created with my duck shaped cookie cutter from my Wilton animal pals cookie cutter set and packed in a Goodbyn Bynto box. I got carried away and cut a small duck shaped cucumber slice with a small duck shaped cookie cutter and topped it above the rest of the cucumber slices, can you see it?

In this bento lunch:
  • Top section: Duck shaped sandwiches with mild cheddar accents and candy eyes.
  • Center: Cucumber slices and homemade granola bar.
  • Bottom section: Orange and seedless red grapes.
The second lunch was created will my small duck shaped cookie cutter. I first removed the crust from the bread and cut the duck shapes from the top slice so the mild cheddar cheese underneath would look like a yellow duck when I added the raisin bit eyes. I included the cut out portions above the sandwich. I also used the small cutter for the babybel cheese cutout and added a slice of cucumber shaped duck above the organic baby carrots. He also had fruit snacks in the center of the box with the cute duck pick as well as some seedless green and red grapes. This lunch was packed in a leak proof Bentgo box.

Review: PlanetBox Launch - Mac&Cheese Bento and Robot Bento

The nice people over at Planetbox generously offered us their Planetbox Launch to try out. Since we own one of their Rover models and also a Shuttle, we now have their complete set. Earlier I had written reviews of the Planetbox Rover which can be found here as well as the Planetbox Shuttle which can be found here. Our first was the Rover and we have used if for several years now and it's still going strong. I must say that the quality of all their offerings is fantastic and they are very durable, I am sure they can last for many years to come.

The Launch capacity is very generous. It can hold almost six and a half cups of food! It comes with a tall dipper made of stainless steel and what they call the satellite dish, a six inch by four inch tempered glass dish which fits into the larger section and has a food safe grade silicone rubber lid. Adults can use this dish to re-heat foods in a microwave oven for a nice hot meal at work. One thing that I really like about this Launch is that options such as these make it so versatile.

Nikolai loves the PlanetBox sleek and slim sleeve which is made to fit, and comes with both a carry handle and a detachable strap which he slings across his body. The stainless steel Launch, the tall dipper, and the satellite dish are all dishwasher safe and exceptionally durable. You should expect years of enjoyment and convenience from them.
I've used our Planetbox Launch to pack these two bento lunches. The first features Annie's organic pasta shells and cheese with leftover honey ham bears shaped with a cutter, organic baby carrots and broccoli with some hummus in the tall dipper and grapes in a silicone cup. Annie's cheddar bunny crackers and a cute pick complete this bento.

This second bento is a collection of robots. The robot sandwich was shaped with a Cute Z Cute RoBo sandwich cutter which can produce a multitude of variations. I used the crust of the bread for the wrench arms and the legs with mild cheddar cheese behind the face cut-outs and for the gears on the front. Another robot, in the form of a cupcake ring, is on the organic baby carrots next to the tall dipper of ranch dressing. A red robot pick is in with the apple and kiwi slices.

Below is a photo of the inside of the PlanetBox Launch. The compartments are quite deep, so you can really pack generous servings. As you can see the glass Satellite dish and its lid fit nicely into the larger compartment and the tall dipper could go into either of the others.

Closed with their metal latch you can see the magnet set . They have lots of designs to choose from and you can even order a custom designed set that you design yourself.

Below you can see the Planetbox sleek and slim sleeve which is available in five colors. You can also use the sleeve for the Rover.

Disclosure: PlanetBox generously provided me with the items without cost to me. Other than receiving the items, I have not received any compensation to write this review. All opinions are my own.

Space Bento

This space themed lunch was inspired by my set of cute picks. I personally love this set of picks and I may have to order another set to have on hand just in case one gets lost or damaged.

I made the star and the moon sandwiches with cutters and topped them with Asiago and Colby jack cheese. His sides were apple slices, pepper slices, Annie's organic fruit snacks and Trader Joe's rocket shaped cheddar crackers. I have the cute space picks appearing randomly just for fun! This lunch was packed in a Bentgo Kids lunchbox.

Spring Flowers Bento

I made these two flower themed lunches on different days a while back, and very early in the mornings when there was no sunlight. I am so glad that it's Spring now so the mornings are better for taking a decent photo.

The first bento was breakfast for lunch. It was mostly food from my freezer stash which I heated up with the Eggo pancakes and sausages in the microwave before transferring it to his Planetbox Rover.

Butterfly Bento

Monday, why must you come so quickly? It feels like it was Friday only minutes ago! I love butterflies and noticed that I've not made as many butterfly themed lunches as I'd thought. It just came to my mind that I should look up to see if there is a butterfly garden for us to visit this weekend. Thinking that, I'll quickly write this post and start searching.:)

This butterfly themed lunch was created with my butterfly cutter from the lunch punch animal set and  was packed in a Yumbox Panino.

Superbear bento

This Superbear bento was inspired by an Under Armour Superman shirt which we purchased for Nikolai recently. They have several cool action heroes shirts to chose from, but this time he preferred Superman.
I used our CuteZCute cuddle palz to create the bear, the alphabet S from my alphabet cookie cutter set and free hand cut the cape from fruit leather.

This lunch was packed in a Planetbox rover. Have a great Friday and weekend, everyone!

Chococat Bento

This was an easy bento I created with the help of my cute Chococat topper. I love this set of decorating toppers and the price is right for all four toppers ; Keroppi, Hello Kitty, My Melody and Chococat.

The bottom tier of this bento contains a whole wheat sandwich topped with a cute Chococat topper. An apple cut into half has raisins for eyes, a cheddar nose and nori whiskers. The top tier contains raisins in a cat shaped container with candy eyes, choc chip granola bar and cucumber slices in a silicone cup. This lunch was packed in a Monbento original bento box.

Tea Sandwiches For Lunch in Easylunchboxes (4)

We are back after our short Spring Break, though I wished that it was a longer one. These lunches were enjoyed by Nikolai several months ago but I'm only now blogging about it. After I packed Nikolai's circle sandwiches it came to my mind that I should go ahead and make simple lunches for the week and combine them all in one post. Again, I found it difficult to come up with a title when I suddenly thought, 'tea sandwiches'! That, I decided, was a great thought as I had almost a week of quick and easy lunches planned.
Any filling or spread can be transformed into delightful finger sandwiches. Tea sandwiches are neat and fun and you can also use cookie cutters to create tea sandwiches that match the theme of your tea party!

I posted these four variations of tea sandwiches in our Easylunchboxes for school. While you scroll down, you can see the beautiful colors of the Easylunchboxes lids. Some are from our Easylunchboxes Classic set and some are from our Easylunchboxes Brights set.

Starting with the first bento lunch. The main compartment contains circle sandwiches topped with mild cheddar and Provolone cheese flowers and some wheat thins. His sides were slices of sweet peppers in a flower silicone cup and apple slices with a flower pick.

The second bento lunch was triangle sandwiches with some cute baran sheets on a jumbo silicone cup and pretzel snaps. His sides were sweet bell peppers, strawberry slices and black grapes.

The third bento lunch was square stamped sandwiches and a string cheese. His sides were crinkle cut cucumber slices, cantaloupe and black grapes in a silicone cup with a bear pick.

The fourth and last of these bento lunches had rectangle sandwiches separated with baran sheets and organic granola bar. His sides were cucumber slices, sweet peppers, half of an apple with a tulip flower cut-out.
