Turtle Bento, #596

This coming Monday is Labor Day here in the US and I am so ready for a mini vacation to celebrate my birthday and also our 14th wedding anniversary. It still feels like we just met and have so much in common. Often the same thought still comes to us at the same time.

Nikolai is quite interested in turtles lately, so I think he will really enjoy this turtle themed bento lunch and it was great fun to make. Have a great weekend everyone!

In this bento lunch:
  • Main compartment -Turtle shaped sandwich with shell of Colby and Gouda cheese and candy eyes above raisins
  • Lower left - Cereal bar with turtle pick
  • Upper left - Seedless green grapes in a turtle shaped silicone cup.
  • Center - Yogurt covered raisins.
  • Upper right - Cucumber slices.
  • This lunch is packed in a Planetbox rover.
Here are the supplies that I used to create and pack this lunch.

Butterfly bento school lunch

I have been including carrots almost daily in Nikolai's lunchbox as I need to get him to start eating them again. Lately he has not been too keen on eating raw veggies, especially carrots. At home, most of the veggies I serve for dinner are cooked except for salad and I think that is the reason it is so difficult to get him to eat them raw .

Each time, when I use the Lunchbots Duo to pack lunches, I get so tempted to get their newer Lunchbots Duo which is slightly square at the sides, but there is really no good reason for me to do that. The one which we have is in perfect condition even after being used for many years.

In this bento lunch:
  • Circular sandwich with butterflies made from Colby and Mozzarella cheese (swapping the holes punched for decoration) and fruit leather for antennae.
  • Pretzels
  • Upper right are organic baby carrots with butterfly pick.
  • Lower right are pieces of pear with some grapes. Looks like a butterfly?

Quick and Easy Roll-Ups bento

Happy Monday! We made it through the first week of school even though there were some days when we had to rush, and a few times I had to quickly put a lunch together. This bento was one of them, and it took me around 10 minutes to put together. I added a little cuteness by using a bear shaped cookie cutter for the cheese cut out. This lunch is packed in an Easylunchboxes container.

Quick and Easy roll ups, bento school lunch

In this bento lunch:
  • Sunbutter and jam roll ups sandwiches. I used a rolling pin to flatten the bread, spread the jam and sunbutter, roll and cut.
  • Organic baby carrots.
  • Babybel cheese with a bear cut out, above granola bar.
  • Watermelon and seedless green grapes with a watermelon cupcake pick.
  • Goldfish crackers.
Here are the supplies that I used to create and pack this lunch.

Dragon Bento and Bear Bento in Planetbox (2)

These two bentos were made a few months ago. The stamped bear bento was enjoyed by Nikolai when he had half day at school and the dragon bento was made by my hubby. I remember Nikolai, when planning a visit to a friend's house, asked for a dragon bento and dad obliged. My hubby told me that he was unable to find a dragon cookie cutter so he used a dinosaur cookie cutter for the dragon and added fruit leather wings. I have to give him credit for his creativity.:)

Here is the dragon bento made by my hubby.

In this bento lunch:
  • Dragon sandwich with a candy eye, free hand cut fruit leather wings and fire.
  • Organic baby carrots.
  • Seedless black grapes in a silicone cup with a flower pick.
  • This lunch is packed in a Planetbox Shuttle.
Here is the easy stamped bear sandwiches.

Back To School Bento Lunch

Time flies and it's back to school time for Nikolai, he will be starting Grade 4. Where did the time and summer go? We really did have a fantastic vacation from school, so it seems extra jolting that we will need to change our focus from the next adventure to preparing for school. I am glad that Nikolai is quite comfortable with his school, and the staff there, and that he is always appreciative of educational opportunities and eager to learn. I will have to get back to more of a blogging mode... slowly perhaps.

I believe I have mentioned before that I love our Laptop Lunches (new name, Bentology Living) leak proof individual containers. Freeze applesauce in the individual container the night before and it's quick to grab and go in the mornings. It leaves home frozen and thaws by lunch time and works as an additional ice pack.

In this bento lunch:
  • A sandwich made with bread cut to the shape of a small notebook with lines made from nori and notations made from fruit leather. Babybel cheese with the no 4 carved on it. Strawberries in a silicone cup.
  • Organic baby carrots with an apple cupcake pick.
  • Frozen applesauce topped with fruit leather cut into an apple shape. I'll add the lid to the applesauce container before closing the lunch box.
  • A spoon wrapped in cloth napkin.
