Ladybug bento

I like ladybugs and I have made a couple of ladybug bentos previously which can be seen HERE, and by coincidence they were also packed in our Easylunchboxes containers. In this one, I used a circle cutter to shape the sandwich and also the mild cheddar cheese which I further trimmed by making a "v" cut to make the wings, and though I did the trimming for the head by freehand, a circle cutter could be used there also. The sandwiches were completed by using small circle cutters for the wing spots and for the Havarti cheese eyes. A similar design was used for the Babybel cheese by trimming the red wax coating using my smallest circle cutter for the dots and food safe marker for the eyes.

In this bento lunch:
  • Ladybug design sandwiches, cucumber slices and organic baby carrots.
  • Babybel cheese in ladybug design with mini pretzels.
  • Small green grapes with a ladybug pick.

Animals bento

Happy Friday! This is one of those bentos which Nikolai enjoyed several weeks ago, but I am only now posting it. I have this set of animal cutters, which I got from Bento USA awhile back, and they are not only cute, but also affordable for the whole set. You can use them one cutter at a time or use the entire set of four cutters, like how I used them in this lunch.
I am hoping that the weather will cool down soon so we could visit the zoo again. Have a great weekend everyone.

In this bento lunch: Packed in Planetbox.
  • Main compartment - Animals shaped sandwiches; bunny, lion, elephant and bear.
  • Lower left - Annie's organic Bernie's farm cheddar crackers.
  • Upper left - Orange slices.
  • Center - Babybel cheese with a bunny shaped cut-out.
  • Upper right - Cucumber slices.
  • This lunch is packed in a Planetbox rover.

Squirrel and acorns, fall bento

Fall is probably my favorite time of the year, and I quite enjoy watching some of the many squirrels in the neighborhood scampering among the trees, sometimes chasing each other around the trunks. When I made this bento, Nikolai told me that the tail looked like a skunk tail, lol! It's sometimes fun listening to his feedback. This lunch is packed in his Laptop Lunches.

In this bento lunch:
  • Main compartment: Sandwiches shaped like a squirrel and acorns using a combination of honey wheat and marble rye bread.
  • To left: Cantaloupe melon cut into pumpkin shapes, a babybel cheese with an acorn cut-out in a silicone cup.
  • Top right: Leaves shaped cucumber slices above organic baby carrots with a cute scarecrow cupcake pick..
  • Far right: Cereal bar.

Fall bento with pumpkin and leaves

Today is the first day of autumn, but same as previous years, the weather in FL is still hot and it doesn't feel like autumn as of yet. We have pumpernickel and rye bread at home and I thought that it would make a nice pumpkin instead of using food safe marker.
Happy first day of fall!

In this bento lunch:
  • Pumpkin shaped pumpernickel and rye sandwich with a fall cupcake pick. Colby Jack cheese, cut and stamped to leaf shapes.
  • Organic baby carrots with a cute squirrel and acorn pick.
  • Apple cut into fall leaves shapes in a pumpkin shaped silicone cup.
  • This lunch is packed in an Easylunchboxes container.

Smiley Face Soba Bento

The weather is hot here and cold soba is just perfect for that! I made a smiley face with veggies above the soba noodles and I am guessing that he is not going to eat the cucumber peel mouth. I was going to cut nori for the mouth but was in a hurry, thus the cucumber peel since I was cutting cucumber for the eyes.
