Last Day Of School Heart Bento #437

This is a bento for Nikolai's last day in Second Grade. I'm sure all of the students are looking forward to their summer vacation. We have plans to do some travel, so my posting to this blog will likely be less frequent, and I may make them a consolidation on one post of a few different snacks or lunches that I have made.

Have a wonderful and safe summer!

  • Colby Jack cheese cut to penguin shape (Nikolai really likes penguins!).

Winnie The Pooh Bento

I was putting away most of my bento supplies or rather organizing the cabinets and found that I have quite a few bento boxes which I haven't recently used hidden behind the other bento boxes. I used these cute Winnie The Pooh boxes a lot when he was in Kindergarten and for snacks.
Early dismissal at school today and the rest of the school days this week and that means very hectic days for me. I have to rearrange my schedules but on the bright side, we get to enjoy tea time earlier.

In this bento lunch:
  • In the Winnie the Pooh face box: Winnie the Pooh Face sandwich (using the box as a cutter of sorts) with potato bread and nori for facial accents and strawberry jam for rosy cheeks.
  • In the other Pooh box: strawberries, seedless green grapes and organic baby carrots with  ranch for dip in cute Winnie the Pooh small container. Linked to BentoBlogNetwork.com

May Flowers Bento and A Very Proud Mommy

Happy Friday! Four more days of lunch packing next week before Summer holidays. I am extremely proud of Nikolai's achievements throughout the year and I am sharing them here.

Among the awards was a trophy for his outstanding accomplishment in the accelerated reader program (AR) in which he exceeded his bonus goals "all four quarters"- especially impressive since as a second grade student his ZPD (zone of proximal development) for reading is 4.4 (4th grade 4 months being in school) - 5.9 (5th grade 9 months being in school). For those not familiar with this program, students will select books from the library to read based on their ZPD range and take tests on their comprehension. They are awarded points for each book based on result. Each quarter they have a goal they attempt to reach. Should they reach their goal, there is a bonus goal that they can attempt.

"A" honor roll for achieving a grade of "A" in every subject area in every quarterly grading period.
Recognition for his achievements in the Gifted/Talented program.

The Principal's Award Certificate for most consistently following the school's rules ( only two kids in each classroom was selected ) and Award recognition for his perfect attendance, never having missed a day of school.
We are very proud parents!! Have a fantastic weekend everyone!
